Moo_Uan
TG and I are spending 3 days in Hong Kong in May. Never been there before. It seems accomodation is rather expensive there. Need help to find an affordable hotel near the popular night spots (Wan Chai?) Any ideas?
sui_lo
Not sure on your budget but two cheaper hotels right in the heart of Wanchai are The Wharney and The Empire. Not sure prices but try a search - they should be cheaper than most... Not sure if there's anything that is really cheap though.
Moo_Uan
Thanks, will do a search I usually stay in 1000 - 1200 baht (200 -240 hk$) hotels in Thailand. Considering the price level in HK I guess I'm ready to go up to 1000 HK$ (TG must be sabai you know :. But I guess 1000 for a hotel room is not even that much in HK I was told about a desk at the airport where good deals could be found. Know anything about that? stars99hk
Up in Mid Levels there is a smaller hotel called Bishop Lei International House. The rooms there are normally good value from HK$600 up to HK$1200 for a suite. Its a nice place in a nice area. Only 5 minutes walk from the restaurants and bars of SOHO area. About 5 mins by taxi to Lan Kwai Fong and 5-10 mins to Wanchai by taxi. Apart from Bishop Lei the other hotels mentioned are all reasonable options. ..
My regular haunt is the Wesley, booked through Asia Travel it is HK$500-550 in May. Convenient to the MTR, Wanchai and Pacific Place shopping gallery (maybe that is NOT a good thing LOL). A good solid 3-4 star place. My wife digs Dusk-til-Dawn, Carnegie's (when there are silly people dancing on the bar) and that wine bar on katty corner from the Irish pub on Luard Rd & Lockhart. Or the Coyote Mexican place on Lockhart... Of course, he could just send his gal shopping in Pacific Place and go to New Makati Disco or Old China Hand and pick up some tarts LOL!
