Flashermac
Malulee Pinsuwan's books are very useful. As I recall, she is a lesser royal (very lesser) from Chiang Mai and is married to a Thai army officer who was stationed abroad several times (in Washington, DC and at the UN).Thus she found substitutes for what was unavailable. Her book has been around for years. The first edition did not have the ring binding and promptly fell apart from use! Volume 1 is the most useful. As I recall, volume 2 combines Thai and other regional recipes -- Malaysian, indonesian etc. I recommended volume 1 to my local public library in the States. It must have been well liked, since it was stolen from the library in no time! :: Also, do some looking on line. Lots of good recipes to be found. e.g. http://www.thaitable.com/ http://importfood.com/recipes.html http://www.northernthailand.com/cm/recipes/thai-recipes/
