When playing music, or my recently aquired Blackadder VCDs etc on my computer, I suddenly am experienceing low sound volume. I have all the plugs in, all the power in, volume up, yet I get very poor sound...just started...also when chatting, the chimes are very low volume...annoying, any ideas? as I said, all connections are in...I might try switching speakers...but this is annoying...time for a new computer maybe...send money please...

OH,

go to control center - sounds and audio. Under Volume click on advanced and check if any of the sliders is way down. Check if it helps when you move one up (especially the one named 'wave').

Hope it helps.

Btw, today read a new coputer magazine. They anounced the 'best freeware for pictures'. One prog mentioned is 'RAWShooter Essentials 2005'. It's mentioned as cheap alternative to Photoshop when it comes to editing RAW pics. Might be interesting for you.

Thanks for the tip on the photo program...I'll look into it, any ideas on safe sights to download it from...

Regarding the sound problem...oddly, I did right click on the audio Icon on my lower right task bar...Wave was way down as were a few others...now, here is the problem...when I play my Blackadder VCDs (viewable only on a computer), after viewing each episode (usually 3 to a disk) the volume drops off...no idea why...in fact, a lot of weird shit happens with this computer that can't be explained...Thanks again for your tips!

My fairly new Toshiba does this sporadically, too.

Rebooting is the only thing that cures it- all sound settings are up.

It also manifests itself by making the WinXP startup and warning noises sound garbled and distorted.

I've even wiped the drive and reloaded XP recently. Still occurs, but not as frequently, I think.

Confusing ???

sounds like both you and OH need to get the latest updates for your soundcard drivers. They should be on the discs that came with your computer. The sound card is often built into the Motherboard, so you may need the latest drivers for it as well. It's not always XP or the operating system that is at fault.

OH...... if you are having prbs onl with the Black Adder files it is most likely the fault of these files and nothing else. What format are they in?
