machine limit:

25 k at Bangkok Bank (just try it!)

20 k at all other banks I know

daily limit with local ATM card:

depends on the card!

eg Bangkok Bank has 3 types of cards. The cheapest and most simple card (Bualuang card) has a daily limit of 50 000. More expensive cards (eg Premier card) have limits of 100 000 (or 150 000, I forgot), and this limit can individually be raised up to 500 000.

K-Bank has a similar system

opening times:

Bangkok Bank has several branches which are open 24/7, eg Seacorn Square

other branches are open in the evening, eg Emporium branch (I think until 7 pm)

Discovered the Emporium branch opening hours with great pleasure very recently, which other branch is open 24/7 and on week end?

Are they major or minor branches?? i e some branches will only allow you withrawals of a couple of hundred thousands while others are OK for much bigger amounts without prior notice?

"prior notice is always good even in european banks for those amounts! "

Ib, actually prior notice is a must in many overcontrolled european countries. Yet U can show up in many BKKBK offices and ask to withdraw a couple of million bahts without having them blink an eye. Thailand is still a cash society, beautiful.

Ok an update on EU EC card(german citibank) withdrawel in the LOS aka exchange rate etc.

Did one on 20.sep where BKK bank lists EUR buying rate as 49.27bt & Kasanikorn as 49.36bt. Oanda lists interbank rate as 50.0bt while I was given 49,65bt per euro thus more than by cash over the counter apparently, but some 0.7% less than the interbank rate?

Additionally I was charged eur3.90 as a non citibank foreign ATM was used!

Apart from the ATM fee(which can be avoided by moving ones ass down to the silum citibank ATM presumedly) I doubt an online bank transfer would result in a better rate? Any experiences?

Surely spending on credit card alternatively would minimum result in 1.65% currency exchange surcharge, so that would be the worst value way to spend ones hard earned euros!

Happy spending ;)
