iuytrede
all drugs that have been mentioned can be bought OTC in BKK - to do this is very stupid you easily find a doctor, eg in Bumrungrad Hospital on Soi 3 (opposite of Soi 4, 5 minutes from Nanaplaza) or in the clinic on Soi 11 Patpong is surrounded by good hospitals (eg Bangkok Nursing Home) Doctors in Thailand speak English costs depend mainly on the type of medicament they will give you (cephalosporines can be expensive), reckon with about 2000 Baht for everything [ January 22, 2002: Message edited by: iuytrede ]
Guest
I can recommend the doctor way down soi 11 on the left hand side. Saved my bacon last time there.
Fiery Jack
quote: Zithromax and Doxycycline can be bought no problem over the counter in BKK. Problem with it is they suggest no advice and the instruction leaflet is in Thai only. The Boots branch at Siam Square near the Novotel sells both Zithromax and Doxycycline over the counter and instructions are printed in English. (They also stock Acyclovir, or whatever it's called, that herpes drug, trivia fans, but I'm not in need of that one yet, touchwood.) The young pharmacist guy there is cool and speaks perfect English: tell him loudly and proudly you think you might have caught the clap and he won't bat an eyelid, just calmly ask your symptoms and then hand over the goodies. You might get a few dirty looks, however, from the fat-assed falang broads scouring the shelves for the mustache-bleaching cream.
