AL East - The road ends at Fenway Park

The Boston Red Sox are a game behind the New York Yankees in the American League East race for the pennant after coming from behind last night to beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 in the bottom of the ninth. The Red Sox are tied with the Cleveland Indians, who also won last night, for the wildcard spot in the American League playoffs.

The Boston Red Sox will finish the season with three home games against the N.Y. Yankees at Fenway Park in Boston starting tonight, when it will be quite chilly here in Boston. It should warm up nicely on saturday and sunday for the last two games. It just doesn't get any more exciting than this for Red Sox Nation. Playoff fever is in the air. This is surely an exciting time of year.

If the Red Sox are to have any chance against the Yankees who have been "hitting the shit" out of the ball lately according to David Ortiz, they will have to pitch much better than they did in the Toronto series which they split. May the best team win.

The Yankees just beat the Red Sox 8-4 to clinch first place in the American League East. There's one game left. The Red Sox still have a shot at the Wildcard berth as the Cleveland Indians also lost today to the Chicago White Sox.

The Yanks beat up on Tim Wakefield, who was pitching on 3 days rest; and was ineffective. Yankee ace Randy Johnson pretty much had his way with the Red Sox batters. Congratulations to the New York Yankees!

Sorry Pete

They should get the wild card no?

They'll meet again!

:)

Sorry "dude". I'm afraid either the Bosox or Yanks will lose to the Angels. Thinking here is that, after Sunday, Sox and Yank fans will have to wait until 2006 to see their teams play each other again (aside from Spring training) :)

The Red Sox beat the Yankees today 10 to 1 to win the last game of the regular season. Both teams finished with identical records; however, since the Yanks had a slight advantage in head to head competition this season, they took the A.L. East. The Red Sox captured the wildcard berth, and are headed to the playoffs for the 3rd consecutive year. This is a record for the club! Today Red Sox nation is celebrating.

:applause:

The Red Sox will face the Chicago White Sox beginning tuesday, while the Yankees will have to deal with the Angels, which, as you suggested, won't be an easy task.
