Activation...?

Hi, a "friend of mine" has a copy of Adobe photo shop CS2, he has a registration number , but they asked him to "Activate" the product. So he is wondering what is involved, and can they track him for sharing the software if he activates it on line or by phone...? The 30 day trial has ended, and he reinstalled it, using the "code" number supplied. He was able to use it for 1 day, then it shut down pending activation. Other than reinstalling it every 30 days, what can he do to use the software...? Thanks

The copy works just fine, but I need to get it installed properly...the "real thing" costs 24,000bht, not 50bht. As far as I know, I have a real copy...

I think what he meant by copy, is a pirated version. Anyhoo....

You need an authorization code in order to unlock the software. In order to get that, you have to activate it. Activating involves the software giving your computer a unique identifying number which adobe uses, along with the s/w serial number, to check if there have been any previous activations. You can activate a legal copy of the software on 2 computers.

liquid,

you tried that already, installing an adobe product that needs activation on two different computers using the same activation code? I doubt it'll work, cause this will give you the same authorization number for both computers, which will not fit the real activation code of the second computer. If this is checked. I'm not 100% sure, but adobe would be dumb if it isn't checked again.

Same WinXP activation couldn't be tricked that way.

Okapparently, I need a "keygen" all efforts to obtain one, have failed...there is oneon the disk, but it isn't working...I tried to open a link to one a guy sent me, and it tells me windows can't open it, search the net for an application that will, or check my computer from a list...that isn't working...any thoughts?

OH,

was a rar archive, already sent you a PM with a link to a zip archive.

Liquid,

that's what I thought. Again if you use the same serial on two different computers and go through the real activation twice you should get problems. After all you are using the same serial. I don't think that'll fly with the genuine activation. That's why they invented activation. Serials were used multiple time.

The only way to use a serial multiple times is not to involve adobe at all.

I had an interesting experience with acrobat software:

I had the free version that came with my older mac.

I dl a government (US) doctument in pdf format.

Opened it ok with my adobe, when I saved it and later opened it it worked ok, I was able to blank out the document and save the blank page.

when I opened the blank page later, all the features of adobe worked.

have a new mac now ( mac mini) and it no longer works.

I think someone ( gov ppl?) screwed up, and later corrected their mistake.

no luck trying the same thing now
