At Pattaya immigration where I got one, there was not much waiting in line, but they make you drop off your application and passport and come back a few hours later to pick it up. They will leave you there too and let you come home a different day if you make arrangements with them. And you have 30 days just in case you do an Old Kwai and miss your flight home...
