The_Munchmaster
Does anyone know if digitizers (cross-hair mouse, software and drawing board) are available in LOS. We use them for electronically measuring areas of buildings off architectural / engineering drawings.
The_Munchmaster
OK, no response, so it looks like I'm going to have to import the digitizer.
Straycat
no, on the contrary I would think they are widely available...check the usual suspects, i.e. Panthip, Fortune at Ratchada, Seacon Square etc...

The_Munchmaster
I've just received a quotation for a digitiser (from UK company) including airfreight, of UK Pounds 5,985. Any idea what import duty would be payable on something like this?
Straycat
I don't know exactly but it's probably not favourable (it's also most likely possible to find out via a web search). All in all, it may not be that more expensive than to buy it in Thailand. In my experience -- but peoples opinion differ here -- Thailand is not cheap when it comes to technology. Its all very well arranging to get one of these things but have you checked that Wild Country will actually let you erect this in one of their booths, OK Mekong Kurt uses his laptop there but maybe this is going too far
The_Munchmaster
Actually, I was going to set it up in the alcove where they keep the dart board, as no one ever uses it.
The_Munchmaster
Straycat, I looked up a website with a link to Thai Customs and, although they didn't appear to state what different import duties applied to what, the examples they gave were all based on 60% import duty +++. That suggests that 60% is the basic rate? Surely not!!
