thalenoi
RF, A guy at TOT Udon gave me a paper on IPSTAR when I told him we would build a house near Nong Hang, but that is some time off, so I dumped the sheet. You can get IPSTAR from TOT, 1600 baht/month I recall.
Julian2
These are good posts guys and very helpful, I live near Chiang Rai and have been promised a land line for 2 years now. I "steal" my neighbours satellite signal with a WIFI router but it's not really satisfactory but considerably better than nothing, it has dropped out this morning about seven times in two hours for thirty seconds each time. I've decided to wait for the land line but noticed there are phone boxes in the village that I have been told are radio phones. Anyone know anything about these and whats involved in getting them connected?

Nervous_Dog
They don't use wires but beam it back to a tower far away sitting high that is sitting on top of a cable which takes the phone call to whereever that person is calling.
