pe7e
I think China and India are the main centers for this type of operation, from what I have read, living doners are readly available and will sell one of their kidneys for a suitable fee. Is your friend Thai? Not sure on all involved, but there is a compatibility issue, right bllod type etc, basically, your friend needs a "perfect match." Is your friend Thai? In addition, no matter how "perfect" the match, your friend will need to take medication the rest of his life, or the body may reject the organ...I work with a guy who had a transplant, been a few years, but he still needs meds...As I recall his story, he was on a list for 2 months or something, they called him at work, told him to go to the hospital, as they had a match, and he had it put in that night. Not sure what the cause of his problem was... Maybe make your inquiries to an organ bank, maybe some info on line, or contact a reputable hospital in BKK... Old Hippie
Try here... http://www.organdonor.gov/ Fact: Organs are matched by factors, including blood and tissue typing, which can vary by race. Patients are more likely to find matches among donors of their same race or ethnicity.
