New Petchburi Pete Posted October 22, 2001 Report Share Posted October 22, 2001 I made the mistake of telling my Thai wife that I did not like the way the Gold necklace that she bought for me felt on my neck on real hot days. As soon as I admitted that , she had talked me out of my 1 gold Bhat necklace ... and, she is insisting on me buying a large image of Buddha, whereas, I prefer the smaller ones on the ladies. She wanted a gold necklace for Christmas; and, as soon as I mentioned that it is the tradition in America to give gifts on this holiday, I had given into her. Those with any experience in these areas will tell you that such 'sacrifices' usually are well rewarded. After the fact, I have convinced myself that it probably was less of a pain in the ass than having to go to MBK on a weekend and buy a new chunck. If you have gold; and you like it, be careful, because those Thai girls are addicted to it. They can outsmart you!
