liquidflux
Negotiation skills and how much thai you can convince them you know is key. Smiling and joking around a bit always helps too. Even if they cant speak english and you ask directly in thai what the price is, they'll almost always start khun farang out higher.
Partyguy
I do a lot of importing from this market, all of the businesses I deal with have factories somewhere else usually in Chiang mai but have a retail outlet in JJ market. True it has become very touristy and the prices have crept to high levels. Like said earlier there are certain types of vendors that open up during the week. Shop around because multiple vendors are hawking the same crap. Get there early before it gets too hot and yes do locate the washrooms for emergency use. This place is a mad zoo and being hung over makes it almost unbearable.. Peaceout Partyguy

SUZIBANDIT
Watch out if buying dogs there. Many are way too young to be sold and many are riddled with diseases like canine distemper. My vet says he sees sick, dying dogs from JJ all the time.
