It still puzzles me how they survive at all on 5k baht a month. That is, actually, $111 bucks. That is horrible pay, even factoring in the cost of things over there.

They simply MUST be living at home with parents, or with several roommates, or working 2 jobs. I'll never figure it out.

You're generalising a bit too much. I know some very smart ones, the only thing is their parents couldn't afford them a good education, so they have no choice.

They usually get the 5,000 Baht monthly minimum wage, plus commission on sales. On average, they take home 7-8,000 Baht. Most of them live with one or two friends in cheap apartments (2-3,000 Baht rent). They do get by by hook or crook and I admire those pretty ones - and there's no shortage of them - who don't fall for the temptation of selling themselves to the next horny guy. Some do turn the occasonal trick, but it's a small minority.

Sooner or later, all the girls find a husband (for better or worse), and that's why you hardly ever see a sales-girl above the age of 30. Many do separate from their spouse (possibly being stuck with a child as well), and then the search is on for the the next husband/boy-friend.

You'd be surprised how many of the girls, being 22-25, have to support a child or two and can look back onto a traumatic relationship.

That part was NOT my quote. A country's economic health does not necessary denote the educational quality of its people. I don't think all (or even most) of the Thai girls who choose to reject the allure of the bars are "stupid", educationally. Quite on the contrary, they should be admired, on at least one level.

Well, you'll have to be in situ, speak a fair bit of Thai and give yourself some time; on top, you'll end up spending a lot of money shopping! Still, I think these girls are a much more worth your time than bargirls. Many people on the board, being more into instant gratification, may disagree.

Don't take my comments personally, and I will do the same with yours...

Different in what way? Have you ever paid anyone to have sex with them? Like it or not, no matter how moral or ethical you may think you are, you are still a Sanuker. And there is nothing wrong with that because I am one too.

Even if I "genuinely" think that way, it doesn't mean that I approve of rape or pedophilia. I can't prevent you from doing what you want to do no matter how immoral or unethical your acts may be. I see this as just a fact of life. Can you see how difficult this whole arguement becomes when trying to apply morals and ethics to it? Who's standard are we going to use for judging immoral and unethical behavior? Your's? Mine? This is why I say that if you are partaking in prostitution, you forfeit your claims to morals because you are already acting immoral to someone else's standards of morals and ethics...primarily, religion's standards.

Clearly, I cannot dispute your claims to upholding a higher standard of morals and ethics, but spare us all your rhetoric on what YOU think is right or wrong because in the great scheme of things, it really doesn't matter what YOU think. People are going to do what they want to do whether or not you and I think it is right or wrong.

Hi,

I think it's low moral standard to maybe introduce a girl to prostitution behaving this way.

Also, some girls kicked out from massage parlors and bars because of HIV actually are working in Robinson and other shops - taking advantage of the foreign languages (English - and German if in Pattaya area) they learned as MG/BG.

By the way, those girls kicked out because of having HIV are normally working as freelancers.
