"som nam naa"

"som" = fitting, proper, that which is deserved

"nam naa" = the expression or look on one's face

basically, this phrase is only applied to farangs, haha, to imply that we are responsible for our actions, and that our actions have consequences. thais for the most part never acknowledge that their actions have any consequences in this life (only in lives that come after), they can never be held responsible for anything...

ÊùéÓ˹éÒ

My dic says Êà (som) = "be well matched; be suitable for each other" and ¹éÓ˹éÒ (nam naa) = "someone like you."

And I too hear it used far more amongst Thais and having no special meaning re: farangs. But Preako's post was a piss take (note the hahaha).

And of course, derivatives of the above would include:

ªÑ§¹éÓ˹éÒ (chang nam naa) meaning dislike; hate; abhor; detest; despise; loathe; recoil from

ËÂÒùéÓ˹éÒ (yang nam naa) or look down upon; scorn

ÊûÃÃʧ¤ì (som bprha song) meaning attain one's desires; have one's wish gratified; satisfy one's wish; fulfill one's aspiration

Cheers,

SD
