MooNoi
There's really a "British Federation of Fish Fryers"???! I knew you Brits wear anorak-wearing eccentrics, but that takes the biscuit! (Or is it the cod??)
mattwasp
Fish and chips is a matter of national importance. Same as Americans and Apple Pie. (Isnt that what the 'A' in 'ATF' stands for?)

Guest lazyphil
Look forward to this, do you give away battered scraps btw? :: Years ago I used to help peel spuds on summer holidays here when my aunt and uncle ran this shop in the peak district. An old toll booth before a chipy!
OhMyCod
We called them "Batter Bits" down Loughborough way...I remember when i was a kid, going down to the local chippy to get my free bag - sometimes you were lucky and you found the odd chip mixed in with them. We obviously have them but usually throw them out...if someone was to ask i would happily give them away!! :: Is the Chippy your aunt and uncle ran in Matlock by any chance? Looks familiar. Its a sign of the times when you through away batter bits My mate lived in Loughborough, we used to drink in the swan pub, know it?
OhMyCod
The Swan. This one?? I know it well, just around the corner from my house. A real beer drinkers pub, full of turtle-neck sweaters and pipe smokers. The landlord used to get really angry if you asked for a shandy or even a lager top - he said that he would not destroy a good beer by adding any soft drinks to it!!! They used to do a great Pear Cider (it's called Perry actually - but i always asked for pear cider just to wind him up!) Cheers
