Rosies is run by "Bill" a wannabe Irishman from Birmingham. Delaneys is now Shennanigans (and has been for some time now)run by Kim Fletcher (ex Jools BKK) yet another Brit.

Define Irish food!!!!!!!!!!!

Spuds, Spuds, Spuds and more spuds?

Yeah.. Shennanigans($) is about as good as you're going to get. Which, is not spectacular, but never disappointing. The all-you-can-eat carver is pretty good. The owner is an undeniably good chap.

The Pig and Whistle down by Rosie O'Grady's has some pretty good Brit' grub--especially the fish and chips.

Hamok,

As you're not going to LOS till Sept you've got plenty of time to check out Thai food in Eire.

Got the early evening Seacat over to Dun Laoghaire on Sat. Only £20.00. Couple of us. Problems finding accom etc and ended up in The Clarion on the Liffey. £600.00 a night room reduced to a very reasonable amount (that is when divided by 3 and you consider we were on the 6th floor).

Interesting night. Lots of fruity looking chaps in sailor suits wandering round clutching little ceremonial daggers. We thought we'd walked into a Village People convention. Turns out the Greek navy were in town. To cut a long story short, we were in Temple Bar and in a club just along from The Mongolian Barbeque, (if you're tempted to try something different then don't as it was bloody awful and very expensive), on the corner of Anglesea Street. I think it was the M Bar/Club. We met a 24 year old Thai lady from Udon Thani. Very pleasant lady. Been in Dublin almost 2 years. We arranged to meet up with her on the Sunday afternoon. Got the low down on the Thai community in Dublin. About 60-70 Thai nationals live there.

Foodwise, she didn't recommend The Bangkok Cafe, up by Parnell Square. Apparently the food is awful. They also don't have Thai beer. They regularly get raided by Health & Safety. The Thai Orchid right at the start of the main drag into Temple Bar, down the Trinity College end, was so-so. But she did recommend The Thai House, out in Dalkey, very highly. They have 3 Thai ladies cooking. The food is superb. They have fresh orchids in every week and the waiting staff wear Thai national dress. Apart from stocking Thai beer the wine cellar ranges from the very reasonable up to about £200 per bottle. It's very popular with the locals some of whom are repeat visitors every week. So if you're thinking of checking it out then you'd need to book.

Might be worth checking it out myself as the standards of local Thai restaurants aren't that high.

"Palmer's" in Pattayaland (I forget which Soi) is an Irish pub with a fairly extensive menu, comfortable seats, and great atmosphere.

On a rainy day, there's nothing finer than sitting there, having one of their humongous cottage pies, and watching everyone try and figure out how deep the puddles are before they step in them.

Sukhumvit, just curious but would you remember her name by any chance?
