There is suppose to a limited trial of using the BTS smart card going on now. I think it started last Friday. From what I have been told, the BTS and subway (MRT) are suppose to both eventually be all smart cards that are interchangeabe. I think taxi canal boats and river taxi boats are to come under the same system.

Would be nice if it happens.

The Smart Pass is being sold this Sunday only at Payathai Station for 540 baht for 30 trips. It is to get people to start using it. After the initial use it will then be 600 baht for 30 trips in 30 days. This is happening at the same time as the BTS just raised the regular 30 day card from 540 to 600, and also next month all fares are going up 5 baht per station except the maximum trip will remain at 40 baht.
