& she represents the best & brightest that America has to offer.

I guess Americans are genetically inferior.

Which might be why we are constantly mistaken for Canadians! :scared::scared::neener::neener::spank::spank::hippie:

You jest, OH, but I have heard of American backpackers putting that little Canadian flag on their packs just to avoid the hassles. Which tells you something about the almost universal practice of Canadian backpackers to fly the flag: That little flag is the ONLY thing that distinguishes Canadians from Americans in the eyes of the rest of the world. This would be horrifying to your average young Canadian "nationalist" had they the mental equipment to appreciate it.

Speaking of inbreeding: Didja know that 58% of Saudis marry their first cousins? I mean, not even our Newfies can match that!

Funny, I was on Soi Cowboy once, a bunch of Brits asked me what part of Canada I was from...I asked what made them think I was a Canadian...? The reply was "...all you bloody yanks are telling people your Canadians now a days..."

Second funny part...heard a joke once... "...how do you tell the difference between an American and a Canadian? Just say there is no difference, and the guy who screams loudest and fastest is the Canadian..."

NASA to review screening procedures for astronauts

Houston, Texas - NASA officials said Wednesday they were to review screening procedures as they reeled from a bizarre love triangle which has left an astronaut facing attempted murder and kidnapping charges.

Lisa Nowak, 43, flew back to Houston Wednesday after being released on 25,500-dollar bail by a Florida court following her alleged attack on a woman she believed was her rival for the attentions of a space shuttle pilot.

"We are very concerned about the tragic situation involving Lisa Nowak," National Aeronautics and Space Administratio deputy administrator Shana Dale told a press conference, adding the case was "a personal and legal matter."

But she revealed that NASA administrator Mike Griffin had told the director director of NASA's Johnson Space Center, Michael Coats, to "initiate a review of existing psychological screening for admittance into the astronaut corps."

Staff would also look into the existing process for carrying out psychological assessments during an astronaut's career, Dale added.

But she stressed that: "All astronauts are subjected to extensive medical and psychological testing in order to be admitted to the astronaut corps."

Nowak was arrested Monday in Florida on attempted kidnapping and battery charges after police said she drove more than 1,500 kilometres (900 miles) from Texas to attack her presumed love rival, Colleen Shipman, an air force captain, at Orlando airport.

The case has captured headlines around the globe, with many wondering how an astronaut with a stellar career, who has fearlessly flown into space, could succumb to such a violent fit of jealousy.

French former astronaut Jean-Francois Clervoy, who was one of Nowak's instructors at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, said she was "serious, hardworking, competent" and "able to handle very stressful situations."

But her actions show that "astronauts are human beings, and that they can blow a lid and let themselves be overwhelmed by emotions that have nothing to do with their work," Clervoy told AFP.

NASA officials Wednesday voiced their support and sympathy for all those involved in the case, including Nowak whose work they described as "excellent."

"This was a tragic event, impacting many lives along the way. And I think we need to deal with that with empathy and a certain level of compassion," Dale told the press conference.

But she added: "In terms of long-term ramifications, I don't necessarily see it at this point. This is a very unique situation that we're facing."

Nowak believed that Shipman was romantically linked to 41-year-old shuttle pilot Bill Oefelein, and drove to Orlando airport to confront her, dressed in a wig and a trench coat, and wearing adult diapers so she did not have to stop on the way.

Shipman raised the alarm after Nowak doused her with pepper spray. Florida police said that they then found in Nowak's possession a folding knife, a steel mallet and a pellet gun.

Nowak told police she planned only to "scare" Shipman into talking about her relationship with Oefelein, and had no intention of harming her, according to a police affidavit.

But she now could face life imprisonment if convicted of the charges.

NASA officials confirmed Wednesday that the married mother-of-three was on 30 days leave and had been taken off flight duties.

Nowak and her husband, a NASA flight controller, both work at the Johnson Space Center. They have a 14-year-old son and five-year-old twin daughters.

Nowak's family said in a statement that the astronaut separated from her husband weeks ago after 19 years of marriage.

"Lisa is an extremely dedicated and caring mother to her three children," the statement read. "These alleged events are completely out of character and have come as a tremendous shock to our family."

Nowak, a US Navy captain, was a mission specialist on a shuttle Discovery mission in July, operating a robotic arm with astronaut Stephanie Wilson in a job that earned them the nickname "Robo Chicks."

Oefelein served as pilot on the Discovery's December 2006 mission to the ISS.

His NASA biography says he has two children, and media reports said he was divorced.

Just a thought, but I wonder if the hyper-ventilating desperation of America and the rest of the West to be Politically Correct has fast-tracked women into positions like this without much concern over their suitability other than the fact that they possess tits?
