Fidel
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica - A tour group of U.S. senior citizens fought off a group of muggers in Costa Rica, killing one of the assailants, police said Thursday. The touristsâ?? bus was held up by three men armed with a gun and knife in the Caribbean coastal town of Limon after the group arrived on a cruise ship Wednesday, said Limon police chief Luis Hernandez. Hernandez said a retired U.S. serviceman whom officials estimated was in his 70s put one of the attackers â?? aged 20 â?? in a headlock and broke his clavicle. After the other two assailants fled, the tourists drove the injured man to the local Red Cross branch where he was declared dead. Authorities said they did not plan to file charges against the tourists, who left on their cruise ship after the incident. Hernandez declined to give their names or hometowns. â??They were in their right to defend themselves after being held up,â? he said. Link

Julian2
Perhaps the people who report for MSNBC think the clavicles in the neck? Do the teach anatomy in third grade?
Old Hippie
If broken "properly" it can cause internal bleeding, and death.

gene1944
I read another report on this which contained a lot more story details. The robber was suffocated after his clavicle was broken. Apparently the "70 year old ex-sevice man" kept the robber in a tight headlock and it eventually asphyxiated the robber. The deceased robber was a known criminal to cops. As stated no criminal charges were made or contemplated. The 70 year old and the other 12 people on the bus continued their holidays on the cruise ship. They were all travelling together on a cruise ship to the Caribbean. Glad to hear the good guys won one. That guy must be a tough SOB.
Central Scrutinizer
 Glad to see the only ones hurt or killed were the assholes that deserved it. Like I tell the younguns, "Never fuck with the old guys. You never know how tough he is and/or what he knows." :smirk:
