McBif
I pay $70 a year for the Yahoo Music Unlimited thingy. It's great. I haven't had to buy a CD for months. But last Friday it suddenly stopped working on my main home PC. I won't bore you with the technical details, but believe me there were no recent software installs or updates or hardware changes, or even any Windows Updates that triggered the Fatal Exception Error that occurs whenever I try to run the Yahoo Jukebox or try to reinstall it. So I've been emailing various "Bills" and "Kates" at Yahoo and this is the mail I end up with: "Thank you for writing Yahoo! Music about fatal exception errors. We're happy to help you with this question. Thank you for reporting this issue to us. The music team and engineers are aware of this issue and are working to resolve it as quickly as possible. At this time we don't have a set time for this resolution. I do apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you again for writing Yahoo! Music. Regards, Kate" And that's it! Googling had already led me to guys getting this email in August! The program works on my work PC and my other home box. It looks like I'll have to flatten this HDD and reinstall XP (though I would try an XP "repair" reinstallation first) but I'm not in the mood. Anyway, great help from Yahoo! Julian2
I'm speechless with admiration at anyone who managed to reach a real person through the Yahoo help system Macca.
walletss
Just use limewire or limewire pro if you can get a copy
junglesoup
The quality is abit hit on miss on limewire. Plus you cant get full albums easily. Better to use bit torrent. Limewire is also rife with virus, spyware etc I had it on my pc but had to get rid of it as i had to reformat the HDD just to get some programs to work again. walletss
The trick with Limewire is to recognise the fake files that crop up after the search. They are usually found up the top of the search and are tiny files that are porn related. I have not yet had a virus from Limewire. I am careful. Having said that, I will probably get a virus next time I boot it up..........
Palatkik
Hasn't Limewire been superseded by Frostwire?
McBif
Just use limewireor limewire pro if you can get a copy Well, I torrent when I absolutely have to, but I can't do it at work. Likewise limewire. The central geeks detect the traffic and disable your port. Anyway, those programs suck. Update to the Yahoo imbroglio: I deleted the earlier version of the Yahoo Music Engine .exe file and couldn't find it on the 'net, and it occurred to me that it just might work so I asked the Yahoo people if they would send me a copy. Answer? Nope! Anyway, I found the earlier version and am listening to Maddy Prior (yeah, I get in weird moods sometimes...) as I write. There are, though, these irritating messages popping up about updates to the engine, but since Yahoo doesn't support it anymore, they don't work. If this 1.1 version pooches on me or even if it doesn't I may try the new version 2.0 on top of it. May just work. Thanks for the suggestions, though. carlton68
You know, you only have those problems because of DRM. No DRM and you'd play your songs without problems. Funny thing that pirates don't pay but play.
