Julian2
Bought some blank rewritable CDs here in Australia to use to back up some text documents and they wouldn't write. Kept saying the format was wrong. Some one gave me a cheap disc and it copied the text no problems. How can I format the other discs? Can't find anything in Help. elef
The CDs are not the problem, it's the program which you use for writing. So the question is which program do you use?
Julian2
Dunno elef, what ever comes with Windows XP Pro. I click on the file, then copy to CD drive F.
Barry
How old is the drive? I think older ones care about whether the disk is + or -..
Julian2
Three years, I've used CDs bought in Australia and Thailand in the past to save text, photos and copy music and never had a problem. I thought the drive had packed up but then this el cheapo disc worked perfectly. I can't reinstall the driver if there is one because all that stuff is home in Chiang Rai. Hugh_Hoy
check the manufacturer's website and see if u can download the driver...if that's what you think the problem is. HH
Palatkik
what ever comes with Windows XP Pro. I found XP to be a pain writing stuff to disc. When I replaced the CD writer to a DVD writer it wouldn't write to either CD or DVD - because the drive wasn't recognized. Quick solution was download a professional CD/DVD package (I use Roxio, but Nero probably as good and many others out there), and all the drivers and read/write problems solved for you. carlton68
Julian, me thinks the problem is that you tried CD-RW. Some real old burners can't handle CD-RW. Don't think that's your problem. As said before, you might try another tool. Try http://www.cdburnerxp.se/ it's quite small.
