Things to do in Pattaya during the Day

I'm planning to go to Pattaya in May. I am wondering what there is to do during the day besides girls and drinking (will get enough of that at night). Any good day trips from there? Is there good diving near by that time of year? Also, what is a good hotel near walking street that isn't too expensive (~2K Baht). Thanks.

Er.... let's think. Er... :hmmm:

Er... nope. That just about covers it, chief. :D

Rent a motorbike and head south towards Satahip on Sukhumvit.

If you are into Aquariums, UNDERWATERWORLD is small but well done with an interesting array of marine life: fairly expensive adult admission.

Past Jomtien in Bang Surey there are the Nong Nuch Gardens which includes an elephant show and small zoo. They have a treetop elevated walkway thru formal and informal gardens that is not bad. It is a major asian tourist bus destination.

Not far away is a left turn off Sukhumvit leading to a large Chinese-Thai Wat and attached museum. The museum is actually very interssting with many displays of ancient weapons, battle array and lifelike statues.

On the second level are many more well displayed artifacts as well as an outdoor plaza with some really beautifully done bronze statues of all the major classic fighting positions. Nobody seems to know about this place, it is a bit hard to find but well worth the effort.

If you happen to take a Thai girl along, a few km down the road is a gigantic Bhuddah visage inlayed with gold into the face of a halved mountain...she'll love it.

Forgot to mention: right on Walking st. is the P-72 Hotel; recently renovated rooms, clean and bright but a bit noisy at night as Lucifers is across the street. Small room B550, large: B650.

Can't get any closer to the action than that.

* buy a "good guy goes to heaven, bad guy goes to pattaya" t-shirt to accentuate your beerbelly

* proudly show said beerbelly while walking up and down beach road

* to further extend said beerbelly, buy a bottle of lukewarm cheers beer at a 7-11 and drink it sitting on the curb

* bargain down the services of a streetwalker from 400 baht to 300

* compare notes on sub-500-baht streetwalkers with fellow punters while drinking lukewarm cheers beer on beach road curbside

if this doesn't appeal, there's really only one thing left to do:

bang your head on the wall for travelling all that way just to end up in the world's butthole...

hope this helps; enjoy your stay
