Another story from the Phuket gazette i just read online. This guy is not going to get away again.

Bangkok AP

An American paedophile rated by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as one of its 10 “most wanted” fugitives was arrested this morning in the Thai capital.

Thai police working with FBI officers collared 48-year-old musician Eric Franklin Rosser, who is charged with producing, possessing and distributing child pornography.

Rosser, an internationally-known musician who once played with US rock singer John Mellencamp, was arrested in February last year but absconded after being released on bail of one million baht (22,250 dollars).

The self-confessed paedophile is accused of being the ringleader of a child pornography ring based in Bangkok, where he operated a piano school for well-to-do children.

Thai police said that after fleeing Thailand Rosser took refuge in many European countries, including the Netherlands, Britain and France, before he traveled back to Bangkok on a fake passport.

He now faces deportation to the United States.

I hope he experiences some genuine pain in exchange for all the crap I have to put up with

from people who have the wrong Ideas about LOS.

It's bad enough that Thailand is so often firstly noted

as a destination for prostitution (yes i do seek sanuk with the ladies) let alone that these scum

further defile peoples perceptions and cause harm

to the children of the nation.

The full report claims he'd been in an out of Thailand since then. Phony passport? Trips across the land border? The guy lived here for years and was quite well known. He played the piano in the Bamboo Bar at the Oriental Hotel, among other things, and I've probably seen the guy there. He's reportedly a very talented musician and kept his secret life pretty well hidden. When he was exposed for what he was, a lot of folks in Bangkok were shocked and embarassed. He travelled in high society.

There is report about this arrest on the CNN web site at:

http://www.cnn.com/2001/WORLD/asiapcf/southeast/08/21/thai.pedophile/index.html

The last paragraph of this report is as follows:

quote:

Thailand and neighboring countries in Southeast Asia have become havens for foreign pedophiles because of relaxed attitudes toward sex and prostitution, bribe-prone law enforcement and poverty that forces families to sell their children into the sex trade.

So, CNN is telling the world that the LOS is poor, corrupt and promiscious. The tourism authority of Thailand are not going to be happy campers about this.

Some more interesting pieces to the story extracted from the bangkok post,

The arresting team yesterday said it had been difficult to trace Mr Rosser because he had changed his name to Peter Alexander Hill and had a fake passport in that name.

His appearance had also changed. He had lost weight and was now wearing a beard and moustache.

Mr Rosser reportedly told police he had facial surgery in Bangkok before fleeing the country.

Mr Rosser said he had feared he would be extradited to the US where a convicted paedophile could face 99 years in prison.

He had travelled to European countries such as England, France and the Netherlands and worked as a pianist. His Thai wife had gone to stay with his relatives in the US.

Mr Rosser said he returned to Thailand about two months ago to visit his daughter, aged 2. He was looking for an English-teaching job in Bangkok before his arrest yesterday, Mr Rosser said.

Pol Gen Sant Sarutanond, deputy national police chief, said US authorities wanted to extradite Mr Rosser as soon as possible.

Legal proceedings in the US could be affected if they had to wait too long for legal proceedings against Mr Rosser in Thailand to be completed.

The FBI could seek a Thai court order for his extradition and trial in the US on alleged crimes in both countries.

If convicted in Thailand, Mr Rosser faces 5-20 years in jail.

Police yesterday searched Mr Rosser's room at K Apartment in soi Ram-intra 39, Bang Khen, and said they found a bag containing about 80 grammes of marijuana, a fake Norwegian passport in the name of Bakke Nils Gunvald, a fake Netherlands passport in the name of Arie Pieter Jan, and about 100 pornographic CDs.

Originally posted by land o' scams:

"Any possibility of the recent nightlife crackdown being connected with the arrival of FBI agents into Bangkok ..."

Why would that be? The crackdown is a moral crusade thought up by the TRT guys. The Interior Minister's recent comments point to that. Wait till the crackdown really affects the regular Thai scene and then the general public might at last realise what a bunch of dour-faced incompetents they have elected.

Did you read about the Singapore Prime Minister's recent speech? He said he wants Singaporeans to have more fun! From my experience, "sanuk"-wise you get almost everything in Singapore, other than lewd shows, a-go-go etc. Who knows, disenchanted Thailand tourists may soon head down to Singapore. According to another newspaper report, when American navy guys arrived in Singapore the other day, hundreds of women were eagerly awaiting to be picked up by them. And not a word of complaint or moral outrage from the Singapore government!

This guy is up for 5-20 years i think if tried in Thailand or up to 99 if tried in the US. I wonder which is worse , Thailand I reckon . But I like the thought of him knowing he will never be free. In Thailand i guess he could dream about the day he is free & able to f**k up some poor kids life again.

A nominee for the Bang Kwang shooting party maybe! mad.gif" border="0
