Ice Skating

OK - I did something VERY weird to do, I went ICE SKATING, and errr, in case you didn;t know I live in Bangkok.

Now this shouldn;t surprise me, I'm from Brisvegas, which a almost tropical climate, and there were two and is now 1 ice skating rink, who's members won a Gold short course WINTER Olympic medal!

I was further stunned to see many thai's skating REALLY well. Who are they and were did they learn?

Jing-Joe has never been but nagged me into it and I really enjoyed myself, 240 baht including shoes for here, 290 for me including shoe hire.

First time I got her twin blades, next time, now she has three new friends, single blades.

Get her friends names, Cian-Cian, Ling-Ling and Ping-Ping, I said Jing-Jing when I was introduced.

This could be a regular event for us, three hours of value, cheapish good food, plate of chicken pieces 90 baht, booze as well, though skating drunk is something I'd fail at.

Odd shaped rink, but fun

Outstanding !!!

With this, the swimming and the horse riding there are starting to be too many things to do on a weekend.

Wonder if there is a resource for 'stuff to do with your kids in Bangkok'. Googling individual activities seems to bring all sorts of trash, takes too long to sift and I'm looking for normal non-tourist type fun, this is home after all.

In addition to the skating I'm keen to know if there is a decent indoor snow slope, the one at Dream World is a bit naff, also karting , indoor or outside for youngsters.

Cheers,

M.

What horse riding? Definately cart riding

You know, four legged animals, tail, longish face and sticky up ears. There is a place out here on the northern boundary, just before you fall of into the Issan ledge that seems to specialise in kids recreational horse riding. Another in Nonthaburi sounds far more horsey (snobby).

Do you know any karting places in BKK that can cater for kids?

Not wanting to hijack this most useful thread. Did the skating place in Ratchada do twin blade skates? Is it a suitable place for complete beginners do you think? Thanks.

Cheers,

M.
