Once infected, people spend their days writing Nigerian letters containing the virus to infect others. The only people immune to the virus are Nigerians, who have to come to the rescue. Or, the internet virus could be hypnotizing people to go and commit crimes...maybe one guy has been turned into a "Manchurian Candidate" and the hero needs to find him before he assassinates world leaders.
