cavanami
Went to the UOB at the On Nut BTS station and they refused to take US $100 dollar bills with the serial number starting with DB...WTF??? Are these bogus bills? The few that they did take (non-DB serial numbers) they ran thru a UV scanner, five times each.

The_Munchmaster
They were quite correct. DB is short for Dud Bill.
MooNoi
Why doesn't the US change its notes? They all look the same and are so easy to counterfeit. I'm surprised they haven't gone to plastic notes like here in Australia, or the 50 baht note in LOS. Why still have "Monopoly Money" in this day and age? unit731
The US 100 dollar note has changed repeatedly. Trying to keep ahead of the conterfeiters. I was advised years ago not to take/bring any of the older 100 dollar paper money as those are the ones being pumped out by the Iranians who have sold some of the printing machinery to the N. Koreans. It was pre-Isamic Revolution that the US sold to Iran the exact same printing machinery as used in US. It is those machines that are still cranking out forged US notes. The Iranians and N. Koreans just love to print all this up. The US has never and probably will never recall any notes from general public. But all notes returned or that pass thru the Federal Reserve of the older type are destroyed. The bottom line is that if you are buying US 100 dollar bills, always ask for the new ones.
