I hope to retire to Hua Hin next year, will be getting retirement visa. Rather then selling my truck here and buying a new one in Thailand, I am thinking of importing it and getting it Thai plates. It has the steering in the right plkace since it was bought in Thailand by precious owners, but now runs on Laos registration. Anyone who can tell me how to go about it. It's probably safer to sell there and get a replacement here, rather than going through dubious paperwork, only to have the truck repossessed once you're back here... My two cents worth.. Car was bought new in thailand by Embassy personnel, all papers OK. I prefer to take it because I know this truck, although 8 years old is sound and reliable. Buying another similar in thailand I have no idea of history, and how it has been trashed. But if importation costs /hassles are too much, I'll sell.
