"Superbug" will rival AIDS!

CHICAGO - More than 90,000 Americans get potentially deadly infections each year from a drug-resistant staph â?? superbug ,â? the government reported Tuesday in its first overall estimate of invasive disease caused by the germ.

Deaths tied to these infections may exceed those caused by AIDS, said one public health expert commenting on the new study. The report shows just how far one form of the staph germ has spread beyond its traditional hospital setting...

This is a scary thought as if I didn't have enough to worry about with just plain old sex and catching some STD.

Seems to be that mother nature is winning the battle on many fronts now...if you follows the argument that nature will keep things in balance, then something big is going to come along and wipe out in excess of 2 billion (4 billion people being manageable, some say). Happy times.

I came down with MRSA 2 times. The last time, I was on antibiotics for 5 months.

The health care system is pathetic in treating and health care prevention. I went one night to Urgent Care because it looked like I might be getting it back for the 3rd time. The shits said "Yes, you have it again." Then they told me if I was a religious person, I should get my things into order. The next night I went to the Emergency Room. At the Emergency Room they isolated me with another person who has had MRSA and is prone to getting it again. Figure it out. But at least they ran a test and found out I didn't have it this time. What a relief. There is nothing like being eaten alive, especially at night time. I am glad I didn't have to go thru that shit again.

What pisses me off is nobody in the health field has asked me where did I get it?

i deal with MRSA on a daily basis.

the British Media have convinced the British Public that all Hospitals are filthy and infested withe bug.

the Public believe that only Hospital employees can catch it and pass it on.

what utter shite.

it is mainly a contact infection and normally be passed on by touch.

where i work no procedure is done without Staff wearing gloves but relatives visiting take no precautions and can bring the infection into the Hospital and pass it on.

we try to keep to the policy of relatives not sitting on the beds or touching their relative or friend, but do they listen?.

some people are inconsiderate and if anything happens blame the Staff even though they might have caused the problem.

yes many Hospitals have a problem and mine is no exception but we do take action to TRY and combat the infection.

Patients are tested for MRSA on admission and the result comes through pretty quickly.

if they are infected they are moved into a cubicle and hopefully the infection will be contained.

we have a very professionsal team of cleaners who work around the clock to clean any room which has been infected.

but they do have a problem with supplies and it's hard to do a job properly if the tools are not provided.

NHS cutbacks and all that.

i have even been trained to clean a room if nobody else available.

the Department where i work is a front-line ward and we are the first point of entry for many Patients.

we have no way of knowing if anyone is infected with anything until tests are taken and results come back.

MRSA is not something to spot by just looking at someone.

i'm not making excuses for the state of the NHS and it's bad record in infection cases but we do try and eradicate the risk or at least lower it.

my Hospital is not perfect but it takes time and money to sort something out something like this.

the UK Government has been making big noises about this matter and it's all bullshit.

this matter will not go away in a Week or a Year despite their assurances.

lip service to the public as usual, they don't really give a toss.

where i work we are regularly tested for most diseases know to Man including MRSA and anybody infected with anything is not allowed to work until treatment completed.

but in the 4 Years i have worked there no member of Staff has been found to have MRSA.

other things yes,but MRSA no.

My Doctor refered me to a infectious disease specialist over ten months ago. Trying to get an appointment is virtually impossible. But I just received today a letter from my Doctor in which she made an appointment with an infectious disease specialist. Two virtually impossiblities occurred. So I guess shit still happens. The specialist and my doctor have also folowed up with calls to make sure I make the appointment. I wonder what bug got up their asses so as to make them wake up?
