Fidel
Without any US invasion, carpet bombing or even massive sanctions, Thailandâ??s rulers have for some unknown reason ended 16 months of military junta and restored parliamentary rule to its citizens. Billionaire businessman, Thaksin Shinawatra, the former leader of Thailand, was exiled to Britain in a coup after extensive accusations of corruption. His party, the People Power Party (PPP), won almost half the seats in the lower house. Current PPP leader Samak Sundaravej will most likely be his successor as Prime Minister. Pundits in Washington are still baffled as to how democracy could take root without their permission and without outside intervention. Flashermac
Actually, I did quite well under the military dictators of the 1970s. Farangs overall did better, especially Americans. p.s. EX-Police LTC. You don't farking keep your rank when you resign your commission, no matter what the Thais think. (The PhD is genuine, however. Mr T paid damn good money for it at Sam Houston State.)
