It's starting to look like Suvarnabhumi airport will be mobbed on Thursday morning. "We cannot stop people who love (Thaksin) from greeting him," says a senior official.

Supporters of ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra in fact will organise transportation for "people who love him" to get to the airport in lots of time for his arrival from Hong Kong, scheduled for 9:40a.m. Thailand time - 0240 GMT.

A number of former MPs and officials in the Thai Rak Thai government overthrown by the Sept 19, 2006, military coup, flew to Hong Kong on Wednesday so they could fly back into Suvaranabhumi with "the big boss" on Thursday.

"As of this moment it is confirmed" that Mr Thaksin will be on the Thai Airways International flight, said Supamas Isarapakdi, a top aide to Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej.

That is when she added, to the Associated Press news agency:

"The party and government want his return to be quiet, but we cannot stop people who love him from greeting him at the airport."

Deputy Prime Minister Surapong Suebwonglee urged both supporters and opponents of the ex-premier to refrain from any move that could plunge Thai society into an even deeper rift.

Although leaders opposed Mr Thaksin's return and threatened street protests, the anti-Thaksin People's Alliance for Democracy is expected to stay away from the airport on Thursday.

Ex-Thai Rak Thai fly to Hong Kong to join leader

Former executives of the now-defunct Thai Rak Thai party flew to Hong Kong on Wednesday to meet with ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra and join his return, after his family lawyer Pichit Chuenban and Foreign Minister Noppadon Pattama confirmed his planned return on Thursday morning.

The executives include former party spokesman Sita Divari, Panachuepetch Krisanarat, Sitthichai Kittithanaesuan and Chawarat Chinmitr.

[color:red]Mr Sita said he usually travels to meet with the deposed premier once a month[/color], and he did not plan today's trip with any other ex-Thai Rak Thai members.

Good thing he's banned from politics!

Potjaman security team to ensure Thaksin safety

Deputy National Police Chief Prung Boonpadung said the police force is ready to provide security for Mr Thaksin Shinawatra if claims of him touching down on Thai soil for the first time after over a year tomorrow are true.

"We have not been informed about his return but when there are rumours swirling, we have to be prepared," he said. "We're using the same team that provided security for Mrs Potjaman when she returned to face charges," he said.

The senior police officer said authorities are also prepared for possible cases of violence should supporters of Mr Thaksin clash with his critics.

If he gave a sh*t about the country, he'd stay gone!
