I'm proud to say I own a copy of Private Dancer, and I thought the Thai escort in London site was a pretty decent read (still wondering about the back story - anyone know who/how that site came about? Was it advertising by more 'legit' escort companies, anti-trafficking groups?). This one sucks, just the same blah about farang and the scene... which is probably the best argument for why it might actually be written by a (particularly vapid, cliched, anti-Isarn, materialistic) US-educated Sino-Thai? - yimsiam Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

My first read of a Bad Good Girl in BKK is that it reads very much the same style. Maybe the same guy? Or maybe all blogs by guys pretending to be TGs are sounding the same. We;ll see... Gadfly Posted May 13, 2008 Report Share Posted May 13, 2008 It's obviously a hoax, but consider this approach (I have): Take an older (26-ish) experienced BG with decent English and knowledge of Western culture (by BG standards, meaning she had at least one Farang boyfriend for at least three months). Show her this site. Read a provactive thread to her. And then try to summarize her response. I have essentially done this on a few banal issues, such as closing times, and a few more provactive issues, such as sponsorships. To be fair, on the latter, I have simply tried to report what they have told me, without expressly telling them that I intended to summarize what they said on the internet (which I think is fair, since I don't reveal their identities and go so far as to dissemble on a few of their personal details). Incidentally, when you show a BG a site about BGs and Thailand's nightlife, typically their first response is dismay: Farangs will know too much (I think this is also the first response generally of the authorities in Thailand). The second response, after it sinks in that there is not a damn thing she or it can do to prevent the dissemination of information about Thailand's nightlife, is how can I make some money out of this? Reminds me why I don't go look for pickups at Gullivers... Get our heroine a job at Star of Love, a couple of luk-krung kids upcountry, a drinking problem and a tendency to throw beer bottles in crowded bars, and we might have something...
