Bangkoktraveler
Thinking about it, part of the problem might have been where she was living - Bangkok. The USA, in many ways, is an isolated country - everybody is our country. If its citizens go to certain countries, it is not because of problems with the USA but with the person who leaves the country.

Central Scrutinizer
Very true SD. I find the privitazation of prisons a very scary concept as a US citizen. Prisons should not be 'for profit', they should be for punishment and rehabilitation to teach job skills for those who will be getting back out on the streets again, drug rehab, life skills taught, etc. For profits want to do nothing to help because it would affect their bottom line. It's a bullshit concept. The GOP wants to fucking privitize EVERYTHING! It's insane. There are some things that the elected government of our country should keep for themselves as their job to do and institutions to run using taxpayer money. Prisons should not be a fucking for profit industry, but a government institution.
Flashermac
I have a friend who is a retired state judge. He shakes his head at some of the things that go on in federal courts.
