cavanami
Any recommendations for an inexpensive shop to have your eyes checked and get a pair of glasses? We went to Chaeron (sp?) on the corner of Sukhumvit and On Nut road, but they seemed not so cheap for what you got. They charged for the frames and then charged for the lens. They offered a 2 for 1 deal, but that was two frames for the price of the igher costing one and then they wanted to charge 900 baht for the lens for both pairs of glasses. Seemed a biton the hih side...soooo, ust wondering about a better shop.
doodee
Shop on the corner of Petchburi Road and Soi 13. Nice, experienced Chinese/Thai guy. Reasonable - not cheap. Huge variation in price..........glass or plastic, tinted?, coated?, variable focus, light sensitive?? Frames - same-same. Your prescription?? I've used him for years. dddave
SIAM OPTICAL on Sukhumvit, just past the construction site at the corner of Asok going towards Soi 23 next to the travel company. It is a small, family owned shop that was recommended to me and gave me excellent service and value.

cavanami
The glasses I got were "standard" lens, not bifocals. Plenty of frames to chose from. Twp pairs for 3600 baht, final price (frames, lens, exam). Ready the next day.
