New Petchburi Pete
A friend is coming in September from India. He usually stays in hotels that charge around 1000. Bt/night. However, due to extensive medical bills in caring for his mother, this year he wants a hotel that is 'very inexpensive.' Any recommendations with prices and links would be greatly appreciated. What are some of the beter guest houses, say, in the Soi Bukaow area?
dddave
Both Nikom Court and New Nikom Court have good rooms for reasonable rates; currently B600. Both are close to the intersection of Soi Buakhow and Soi Diana. NIKOMCOURT@YAHOO.COM Some very cheap GH's on Soi Chaiaphoom, down the soi closer to 3rd Rd. trooper
Greenery House is ok on Soi Bukhao. It's 500 baht for fan room and 700 for aircon. You get better deals when you stay there longer. The rooms are clean and comfortable considering the price. They also offer free wifi.
unit731
I'd try the Bella Vista near Soi 8. Nice English pub next door for some good dining. http://www.eastinypattaya.com/eastinybellavista/index.html
New Petchburi Pete
Hey Unit, Surprised you didn't mention Queen Victoria's Inn on Soi 6 ... fare is better than the Pig & Whistle and the scenery, well ... much more interesting! Was told rooms start at 700 baht? I won't go so far as to call it a dump, but for the money, there are much better rooms around the Buakhow area for less money. It does have a pool. Virtually every room in the Buakhow area is "guest friendly" Almost every bar on Soi LK Metro has a guest house above; some better than others B500-up. trooper
I've stayed in Siam Sawasdee about 4 years ago and comparing to what you get in Bangkok for 700 baht it's luxurious . Anyway we had problems with cheating staff and I've heard so many others complaining that as well.
Barry
I stayed at the Siam Sawasdee 2 years ago and hated it.. Lots of little annoyances like the wood carving over the bed that I kept cutting my head on, or the loud shrieking phone in the cleaner's area that wakes up the whole floor every morning, or the disgusting restaurant, or the shifty staff etc etc. You can do better than that fucking dump.
