Julian2
I saw something in a butcher shop window there called knacker that I'd be a bit wary of. I found Austrian food very tasty, you get the Hungarian influence from the East that can make it a meal to remember.
Mentors
Nice food in Austria. I had some veal in Vienna once that would rank amongst my better culinary experiences. And the beer.... Mein gott. I like Austrian sausage and I don't mean cock. I like delicious 'Mozart balls' and i don't mean...
Julian2
I believe that the finger food of choice at Hugh_Hoy's US election result party will be "McCain's balls".
rogueyam
what a complete disrespectful bullshit! he was a far right wing politician, but not a Nazi! ... Fortunately we do not run US politics in Europe, where some idiots think that they can meddle always into other countries' matter without doing their own homework! Um, when Haider was first voted into prominence wasn't it the other European countries that sought sanctions against Austria? As for meddling in other countries without doing one's homework, we Americans have been listening to the leftist mewlings of ignorant Eurotards for generations. Most of us ignore them though there are some (Jimmy Carter, Barack Obama, John Kerry, etc.) who like to sob about America's "image abroad". Hearing this crap is just a small part of the cost of being the leader of the free world.
Flashermac
Always been well treated in Austria. Austria will be better without this populist leader. This said, Austria never got over its past. Their sad excuse that they were too "victims" of the Nazism was disgusting. After all AH was Austrian and they supported far more the Nazism than the Germans themselves. The fact Austria was not divided in 5 and occupied did certainly not help them to do their "mea culpa"... Ironically, it was the Prussians - who hated Adolf - that ended up paying most for his crimes.
drogon
Yes and the Berline (Berlin was the city where he always got the lowest ratings/votes)...Guess the city was too international to fall for his tricks. Still, they paid it dearly when the city fell.
Flashermac
Berlin was a communist stronghold. Hitler hated it. He drew up plans to tear down much of the city and rebuild it to his designs.

Hearing this crap is just a small part of the cost of being the leader of the free world. Except that the USA isn't leader of the free world anymore (see Georgia, the financial melt down, e.g.,). Financially the USA is dependent on the goodwill of China and the industrialized West. Culturally it has lost it's leading position during the reign of GWB, morally also during the same time by supporting torture and lying to its own people and to its allies. My friend, as McC would say, the century of the US superiority over. Now we live in a multilateral world.
