NRI Muslims celebrate first Indian moon mission

New Delhi: The news of successful blast of India's first mission to moon was celebrated in India and overseas. Two Indian Muslim organizations based in US and UK have congratulated the Indian scientists who made this mission possible.

 

Indian Muslim Council-USA (IMC-USA), based in the US congratulated Indian scientists on the successful launch of the first Indian moon mission. It said that it "This is certainly a moment of as much joy and pride for Indian diaspora as to Indians in India. IMC-USA wishes all the success for the completion of this mission and hope it paves the way for more ambitious peaceful missions in the future."

 

UK based Councilof Indian Muslimsâ??UK (CIM) also congratulated Indian scientists for the successful moon mission launch. "We are proud of these scientists and pray that we continue to hear such positive news from all walks of life from India more often. In the present depressing political environment this news has provided every Indian and every person of India origin in the world to raise his head with pride." CIM's chairman Mohammad Munaf Zeena said in a statement.

 

"The fact that the 12 member core team of engineers who developed satellite systemfor the mission included an Indian Muslim woman, Khushboo Mirza, a graduate of Aligarh Muslim University, has brought double happiness for us." Zeena said.

 

"We congratulate the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) that has given the country a solid sense of achievement and has set a shining example of dedication, hard work and the determination to achieve results." Zeena added.

 

India's rocket named Chandrayaan-1 shot up from the Sriharikota space center in southern India. The two-year mission of Chandrayaan-1 mission is to redraw maps of the lunar surface. A principal objective is to look for Helium 3, an isotope which is very rare on earth and sought to power nuclear fusion. Chandrayaan-1 mission also marks NASA's first partnership with India.
