cavanami
I did a Google for "train from Singapore to Bangkok" and the top hit showed the schedule, which arrives/departs KL. Pictures of the train looked quite nice and the price (SIN > BKK) showed $50, so cheap but a 48 hour journey . KL > BKK looked to be 14 hour? samak
14 hours from BKK to KL? very questionable! even a fast car driver will hardly make it in 10 hours to the Thai-Malaysian boarder! any source for that?
cavanami
The schedule is a little confusing but this looks to be correct, so 14h 35m Bangkok (Hualamphong Station) depart 14:45 Kuala Lumpur (Sentral) arrive - - 05:20 http://www.seat61.com/Malaysia.htm
trooper
Interesting to see if I'll be able to get a seat in train. I also changed my flights to Kuala Lumpur and have heard many people are doing the same.
br28016
Looking at the schedule it looks like its actually 38hrs after leaving bangkok. 05:54 the day after leaving Bangkok you are only pulling into Hat Yai. They are quoting 48 hrs to do Bangkok to Singapore. I've done Singapore to KL which is about 8 hours overnight so could believe it is virtually 2 days on the train although looks like you end up spending about six hours in Butterworth. Leisurely way to see the country. Hopefully they're better at dealing with passport stamps between Malasyia and Thailand as I managed to enter Malaysia without getting an entry stamp (got a singapore exit stamp as everyone had to get off the train leaving singapore but don't know where you're supposed to get the Malasyia entry stamp)
imperial
the company Dynasty hotel travel uses is full till friday , would love to get out of here today Wednesday if possible , this was a direct BKK-KL bus trip I know I can also do a BKK-Hatyai overnight trip but I do not want to drag my suitcases over the border etc thats why a direct bus trip would be nice.... if you know of anything please post or PM me thanks Dave

cavanami
I like the train idea as you might be able to find a "bed warmer" for the trip
