SFO-HKG on S.A. for $748 R.T.

It would be a good value for someone that wanted to come to Thailand, with a stopover in Hong Kong (can book air asia out of Macau). I've only flown Singapore Airlines once but it certainly beats all of the "cheap" air carriers to Asia (Eva, China Air, etc).

SQ beats any carrier flying from North America to Asia.

i just flew SFO - HKG on SQ01 in biz class last saturday!

it's a 15 hours flight and it's not on the new A380 or 777, but a 747 with not completely flat seats!

nevetheless i slept around 8 hours.

so i guess also coach seats are not the most modern ones!

service was very good though as was the food...and biz was completely full!

also timing is excellent as it leaves SFO midnight and arrives 0655am the day after!

And probably a smart move in these times.

First time I flew SQ1 SFO-HNL-HKG, I was working at LAX with my girlfriend who worked for SQ. I worked for their handling agent, Air New Zealand, and the two of us planned to depart LAX after work on the the LAX-HNL-TPE flight and switch planes in HNL to get to HKG, but the flight from LA was cancelled.

So the Hong Kong bound passengers were transferred to PSA to get up to SFO to make the flight, as my girlfriend and I also decided to do.

Since we were both still in our airport uniforms, it was a working trip. We were helping passengers find the bags in both SFO and HKG, that kind of thing. The passengers couldn't have been nicer, but we were like tour guides escorting them through the whole inconvenience. We changed out of our uniforms in flight, but they still recognized our faces from when they first checked-in at LAX.

It was not a bad experience at all, just strange to be working when you're supposed to be on holiday. :)
