Faustian
More worrying news...... Arctic Heats Up More Than Other Places: High Sea Level Rise Predicted http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/01/090116111135.htm "Temperature change in the Arctic is happening at a greater rate than other places in the Northern Hemisphere, and this is expected to continue in the future." "Taken together, the size and speed of the summer sea-ice loss over the last few decades is highly unusual compared to events from previous thousands of years, especially considering that changes in Earth's orbit over this time have made sea-ice melting less, not more, likely." HeartThais
Dude. In order to disempower the oil-holders we must develop an energy source that is cheaper than oil. Spouting off bullshit is irrelevant. Unless and until you have identified an energy resource cheaper than oil then you are just another guy beating on a log drum. From a purely economic point of view this is correct. But the price of oil does not move freely on the open market. It is controlled by a cartel. So if you were a member of the cartel and saw a competing technology on the horizon and were threatened to lose your monopoly on world energy what would you do? Lower the price. Gee what just happened in the face of a global movement away from oil? Rogie's view isn't correct from an economic viewpoint either. There are economic externalities(like the cost of pollution) that aren't accounted for in the cost of oil. The market clearing price doesn't always lead to a fair equilibrium.
