The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said a member of the school community at the Weald Church of England Primary, Beare Green, had been diagnosed with TB. Pupils and staff were potentially exposed to the disease over several weeks when the person was unaware of their infection, the HPA said. Parents have been sent letters advising them the risk of infection is low. But as a precaution children will be offered screening, in the form of a skin or blood test. Local GPs have been alerted and parents have been advised to seek medical advice if they have any concerns about their children's health. Screening will take place later this month, as six weeks should elapse between exposure and testing. "We will continue to do all we can to help ensure every precaution is taken to protect the health of our school community," said head teacher Sharon Davis.
