doxx
Guys, I am about to send my 50" flat screen to Thailand, but I figure I should ask if it will work at all over there. Will it?
..
Is it universal voltage (i.e., 100-240VAC input)? Is it universal color encoding (can do PAL, NTSC, SECAM, etc)? Check your documentation. If so, then I don't see why not. If not, you'll need a) a power converter (we're on 220VAC here), and to run the input through a component (e.g., a VCR or a Home Entertainment Stereo Receiver) that converts PAL to NTSC, but it should still work. FYI Thai is PAL, No. America is NTSC. Cheers, SD
..
Thinking about this, I believe that if you are using a digital input (e.g., DVI or HDMI) the encoding is a moot point as it only applies to analog input. Cheers, SD

rickfarang
Not generally. "Analog" television in the U.S. is NTSC while television in Thailand is PAL.
devils reject
Was thinking about doing the same thing. I've got a 42 inch plasma that I'd like to ship over to LOS. I'm in Oz, will the tv work in Thailand?

rickfarang
If your receiver can receive and decode PAL/B or PAL/M, then I agree, the answer is "yes".
