Red Shirt leaders ready to surrender

Leaders of the Red Shirt protesters announced on the rally stage at Government House at 10.30am that they are ready to surrender to face charges.

One of the leaders, Chatuporn Promphan, said they welcomed police and soldiers to arrest them.

The announcement came as soldiers were moving towards the rally site. The leaders include Jakrapob Penkair, Veera Musikapong, Nuttawut Saikua.

And now ...

Veera Musikapong and Suporn Atthawong led other red-shirted leaders to surrender at 11:18 am.

They headed for the Metropolitan Police head office but had to stop shortly because some Red Shirt guards and demonstrators were angry at them and opposed the surrender.

Sheesh ... Nor surrender!

-------------

Red Shirt protesters seized a fire truck to run it into line of officials and local residents at Soi Phitsanulok 1 at 11:30 am.

The truck was stopped just before it ran over the people, Channel 11 reported.

As local residents rushed to try to arrest the driver, the truck retreated.

The station said the Red Shirts also set fire to a bus.

I'm more worried that this doesn't get resolved once and for all today, then tomorrow the last remaining Red Shirts will go after the transportation lines into the city for maximum effect.

Already one UDD Leader (Mr. Veera) has just announced to the Red Shirts to disperse from Govt House area (one of the last remaining locations that the UDD actually control) - he is worried for their (Red Shirts) safety. Actually troops have finally surrounded them so they have no supply lines to get food/water to their remaining supporters, and also no new Red Shirts are able to get to them.

Piss poor planning really - just too damn hot to be out all day, and over the last 24 hours they have alienated their already limited public support (at least in Bangkok).

Their leaders are too divisive (Arisman Pongruangrong, Jatuporn Promphan, Natthawut Saikua and Veera Musikhapong), their tactics are not working and they have not a chance now â?? actually those 4 are more likely to spend time in jail, which their â??Chairmanâ? has so far avoided.

Yes, it is falling apart now at the main UDD level, but the problem is the type of people involved in most of the destructive acts were the type of people who were doing this not for any ideology but because more that it was their opportunity to be in charge of the chaos.

Today and tonight will be the most dangerous times to be out (in those very limited areas) that non-UDD Red Shirts are still active.

Indeed, these red shirt hardcore fanatics are low life scumbags...any opportunities to kill a few more would be just fine and dandy...

After they can go back to their normal jobs...being mangda/security guards/motorcycle taxi drivers/butchers...

I really hope they find the c*nts who killed the 2 brave "normal" people....bet they don't.
