..
Hey Flash-a-rooni, I just saw black-eyed peas at Villa (soi 33); a 500g bag of 'em, dried of course, for B49. EDIT: Gee, this sounds good; since Vampy & I are having folks over for dinner this evening, I think I'll make it! [color:purple]Big Pot of Black-Eyed Peas Ingredients: 1 pound dried black-eyed peas 4 cups water 1/2 pound bacon, chopped 1/4 cup bacon drippings 1 large onion, chopped 14-ounce can of diced tomatoes, such as Rotel, drained 4 garlic cloves, minced 3 jalapenos (pickled or fresh), chopped 2 teaspoons chili powder Salt and pepper to taste Method: Wash and pick over peas. In a large pot, mix peas with water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 30 minutes. Add all other ingredients and simmer, covered, 1 to 1-1/2 hours or until peas are tender.[/color] Cheers, SD

Flashermac
SD, see any corn meal? Getting hard to find again ... and here's all that nice okra back in season again. Know anywhere to get decent Cajun rice and beans? I suppose Bourbon Street still has its variety. Only place I know of for Jambalaya either. Too bad old Josh isn't still around. That Bro knew how to cook.

cavanami
I asked the question before with a TSA person and they said, "...up to the TSA person...". I had "ranch beans", so I packed them in my checked luggage. Yes. TSA are the new Nazi part of the US gov!!!
