Swine Flu Death Toll Climbs to 1,154

LONDON -- The global A/H1N1 swine flu pandemic has claimed 1,154 lives since the outbreak was identified in April, data published by the World Health Organization showed Wednesday.

The Geneva-based health agency also said that the number of laboratory-confirmed cases stood at 162,380 worldwide as of July 31.

The Americas continued to register the highest total of confirmed cases, put at 98,242 total cases and 1,008 deaths.

The WHO also counted 26,661 total cases in the Western Pacific region and 26,089 in Europe, where the vast majority of cases have been diagnosed in the U.K.

The WHO has estimated that 2 billion people, or one in three of the world's population, will have been infected by the virus by the end of the pandemic.

Thailand reports 16 more A/H1N1-related deaths

Thailand's Public Health Ministry on Wednesday announced 16 more deaths due to the A/H1N1 influenza infection, bringing the country's death toll to 81.

Of the total death cases, a large number of the victims died due to having congenital diseases with overweight problems, the ministry said.

Also, the victims went to see doctors too late after developingthe new flu, the ministry said. On average, after having had the new flu for five to six days, the victims went to see doctors.

Every Wednesday the Thai government schedules to announce the country's A/H1N1 outbreak situation, including the death toll.

Thailand had its first two confirmed patients on May 12.

The media/gov's have to scare the people so they will get vaccinated...after all the big pharma has to sell all the vaccines they have ready to go!

Last year, 100 children died from the flu, this year, using Australia's calcs, 200 will die in the USA. The death of any child is terrible but to pump out 75 million vaccinations to the children in the USA, using an untested and dangerous drug, hmmmm, can we think this over a bit?

Squalene: The Swine Flu Vaccine’s Dirty Little Secret Exposed

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/08/04/Squalene-The-Swine-Flu-Vaccines-Dirty-Little-Secret-Exposed.aspx

According to Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, your children should be the first target for mass swine flu vaccinations when school starts this fall.

This is a ridiculous assumption for many reasons, not to mention extremely high risk.

In Australia, where the winter season has begun, Federal Health Minister Nicola Roxon is reassuring parents the swine flu is no more dangerous than regular seasonal flu. "Most people, including children, will experience very mild symptoms and recover without any medical intervention," she said.[ii]

Sydney-based immunization specialist Robert Booy predicts swine flu might be fatal to about twice as many children in the coming year as regular influenza. Booy estimates 10-12 children could die from the H1N1 virus, compared with the five or six regular flu deaths seen among children in an average year in Australia.[iii]

“Cure the Disease, Kill the Patientâ€Â

Less than 100 children in the U.S. die each year from seasonal flu viruses.[iv] If we use Australia’s math, a very rough estimate would be another 100 children could potentially die of swine flu in the United States in the coming year.

If children are the first target group in the U.S. per Sebelius, that means we’re about to inject around 75 million children with a fast tracked vaccine containing novel adjuvants, including dangerous squalene, to prevent perhaps 100 deaths.

I’m not overlooking the tragedy of the loss of even one child to an illness like the H1N1 flu virus. But there can be no argument that unnecessary mass injection of millions of children with a vaccine containing an adjuvant known to cause a host of debilitating autoimmune diseases is a reckless, dangerous plan.

Why are Vaccinations Dangerous?

The presumed intent of a vaccination is to help you build immunity to potentially harmful organisms that cause illness and disease. However, your body’s immune system is already designed to do this in response to organisms which invade your body naturally.

Most disease-causing organisms enter your body through the mucous membranes of your nose, mouth, pulmonary system or your digestive tract – not through an injection...

I don't know about the Thai numbers.

For a few weeks, the number of cases and the number of deaths were doubling every week for about 4 weeks, pretty steadily. Going from my memory (which may be completely wrong! :) ) At one point, deaths had reached 12 or so, with ~1000 cases. The next week ~2000 cases with deaths at 22. Then ~4000 cases, with deaths at 44. The week after, cases at 6,777 (only a 2/3 increase) and 22 (only a 50% increase) more deaths. Now, only 16 more deaths (<20% increase)?

So, both the death rate and rate of new infections has dropped dramatically? At this rate, the dead will be reborn soon. And no reporting of the number of infections, only deaths now. Is LoS really beating the rates found in the rest of the world (honestly though, I've not run those numbers yet)?

All hail the 30 baht health plan.

Sudarat: Make flu pandemic national agenda

Former public health minister Sudarat Keyuraphan, who has contracted A/H1N1 flu, on Thursday suggested zoning of areas in the country and making the flu pandemic a national agenda.

Sudarat has received treatment for the flu at Bamrungrad Hospital in Bangkok since Aug 5. Dr Jamaree Chuaphetcharasophon, the hospital director, said the former minister's overall condition had improved and she no longer had a fever but was still coughing.

The former minister said she was infected by the flu although she had taken preventive measures against it. She believed she contracted the flu while visiting the people last weekend.

Sudarat said that in her opinion the Public Health Ministry had not taken sufficient preventive measures, especially in other provinces than Bangkok. She suggested that the country be divided into red, yellow and green zones for highly affected, less affected, and not affected zones so that the people would be able to better protect themselves from the virus.
