Flashermac
If you fly in there's no hassle at the airport.
waerth
CTO I meant that the crossing to Vientianne seems a lot of hassle to me. The one to Savannakhet is absolutely easy peasy. Go to Mukdahan. Buy Ticket at busstation for the bus to Savannakhet. Get on the bus. Get out at Thai side, get stamped Get back on the bus cross the river. Get out on Lao side, get visa, get stamped Bus will wait it all takes under 10 minutes. Get on bus. Exit in Savannakhet. Couldn't be more easy. No hassle, no scams, bus waiting for you! Really comfortable bus to! W
CTO
OK -understand - but it still is worth the hassle to get to Vientiane - nice town
waerth
I know, have been their once. But I am still surprised at what you described! They can do it efficiently on the Mukdahan<>Savannakhet bridge why is it so difficult to be efficient at the other bridge. If I have some money again I would love to take the train over the bridge! I am glad that you have a good time. Hope to see you in Bangkok again! W
WorldFun
Laos is still worth the hassle, but the 2nd link does sound like a cool breeze - lovely Still Nong Khai is a far shot from the level of hassles one has to encounter at a crossing like Poipet Never again for me unless choices are cut short some how say financially
jack_schist
went to Vtne a few years ago and really enjoyed it, went back a months ago and was not that overjoyed. I prefer Savanakhet for some reason for a short stay of a few days.
CTO
Quite fond of Savanaket - visit the hospital - interesting place
jack_schist
hopefully I never have a "pressing need" to visit the hospital. I think its the very quiet nature of SK that I liked. People were very nice there too.
