My Racist Trip Report: Pattaya

Just got back from a week in Pattaya. I've not been to Pattaya since '06 and even then I thought it had gone to the dogs.

 

I first went to Pattaya in '00. I remember going twice a year for the first few years and still remembering people and faces and people remembering me. It was a much closer knit den of whores, thieves and farangs back then.

 

Ahhh...Pattaya, the belly of the beast (well, PP in Cambo is really), Disneyland for Adults (males that is). I loved how blatant the sex trade is there.

 

The one thing that struck me even back in '06 was just how overbuilt the town or should I say city has become.

 

Also, it was now getting to the point it shouldn't be considered part of the Land of Smiles because I didn't see much smiling other the ones that needed to for their jobs like BGs. 7-11 clerks, vendors, baht bus drivers, all had the same look I saw from similar workers in the west.

 

Where is the racist part of the post? Oh yeah, here it is.

 

I can't walk 2 feet on the store side of beach road without some person of sub indian continent origin trying to get me to buy tailor made clothes. They are very aggressive and greet me in better 'black american ghetto english' than I could muster having moved from the 'hood long enough to lose my 'street cred'.

 

Them: "Yo what's up, where ya from bro?" while sticking a hand out.

Me: "er...the states..(with a puzzled look because they sound like they lived in north Philly their whole lives).

Them: "I can hook you up with a nice suit. Won't take long, come on in."

 

This happens every 20 yards.

 

Also, it seems like most of the whoremongers are of middle eastern and sub continent descent. What happened to all you white guys from the states and europe? Yes, you are still there but not in the percentage I'm used to. You are losing the fight for Pattaya. When ya gonna take it back?

 

I have a post 911 uneasiness around so many of these other guys.

 

One night I actually ended up on what only could be consisdered Middle Eastern row in Pattaya as there was a line of businesses with hookahs and enough moslems to make an Iraqi war vet get a flashback. I was suprised as hell at the number. One place blared a song that I can only describe as an arab hip hop song and one guy left his hookah and BG and started dancing and I got a little worried for my personal safety. His dancing and 'jihad' came to my mind immediately.

 

Okay, yeah, they have a right to thr same pussy-fest that you and I have enjoyed for so long but...? Where are the fellow westerners though. Need more of 'youse' as they say in south Philly (and Brooklyn).

 

Another thing. Maybe I didn't notice before but did it get expensive to have 'fun'? I recall short time being 500 baht, long time 1k baht. Now everyone, even the bottom of the barrel freelancers that ply their trade on beach road are asking for a 1,000! WTF?! My fave BJ bar as well. Yeah, you can get a good rate with a little haggling, etc. but I didn't have to before.

 

I also worked out the math for the first time. Hmmm, let me see, its about 33 baht to a dollar. 500 baht is....what? 1,000 is...what the f**k! One can drive down certain streets in south central LA and its not too hard to get a somewhat decent (considering) but haggard crackhead to suck you off for $10 (330 baht). Was I always over paying and just didn't give a damn because I could bang girls to the point I measured time by 'recovery time' between girls and how long it would take the Viagra I had to get after a few days from blue balls (my mind wants to bang you Noi but my dick isn't complying)?

 

Lots of russians on holiday. Kept seeing blondes and western girls and thinking its americans and then hearing russian. Tried once or twice with the limited russian I know "kakdila" (how are you) minyazut Steve (My name is Steve) but I may as well be speaking greek.

 

Surprised to see a few black girls there plying their trade or I think they were. They looked American and at this time of year, the teachers in Korea get their holiday so it could have been. I did see one girl, maybe African, with a falang on Walking street. I'd be willing to give one of them a test run but I would assume the price would be high.

 

I did have my fun though. I made a 'newbie' mistake and took a girl from a massage parlor across from the hotel. She was pretty and could pass for a black girl in the states frankly. 3 input, solid c cups, it would have been criminal to ask any more of her. One thing about Pattaya (and possibly Thailand in general), hip hop is big (a couple hip hop oriented discos on walking street) and even more girls are curious. One kept calling me Akon (a rapper/singer in the U.S.). And of course Soi 7 and 8 where I got my moniker. I took a walk down there at night time to remininisce and they didn't disappoint "Hey chocolat'...."I love chocolat" the rest of the bar laugh with glee if I wink back or blow them a kiss. The closest I'll get to being a celeb.

 

Lots of empty beer bars and girls with no one to talk to. For the life of me I can't see how 70% of these places make money.

 

I am seriously considering an alternate place for my fun. I looked in the regional sanuk section as I considered Vietnam but didn't like what I read. I've been to Cambo but I don't have a good feeling about that place. I guy I know said its easy for westerners to get laid in China. I'm talking regular chicks not pros. He said my being black is even better as they are very curious and somewhat bold. Hmmm, I'll have to some more research. I may try another city in LOS. Until I find some place I guess I'm stuck with Pattaya.

I was in last in Patong in early June. Didn't notice a large arab/indian number of people.

I returned from Patters about a week ago. It appears that you are confusing asking price with the actual price. Pattaya is suffering from the worst low season in many years so consequently the girls are asking for as much money as they think they can extract.

Not many businesses are making money now. The only places with lots of customers that I saw were some of the big gogos on WS. Considering that many business owners there are anticipating a very slow high season this year it can be expected that many places will go belly up in the next 12 months.

As for the Arabs stay away from the Arab quarters in south Pattaya and the problem will be much smaller.

I should qualify that. The young ones in their 20s. I wore a t shirt en route to BKK that said 'Rub Me For Luck' and on the plane I felt someone rubbing on my shoulder and I looked over and a 20 something guy said to me with a smile and in a kiwi accent "I could use some extra luck on this holiday". He had come on the plane with an Asian gf and she was looking over at him as if he was nuts. lol.

 

I was a good sport about it. Had a nice chat with him.

 

Flash, no I have not seen that commercial. I'll see if youtube has it somewhere.

 

Alholk, they are everywhere. Especially south Pattaya but they are enough of them where you see them everywhere. Yeah, not right of me to say it but I miss the old days of almost entirely white Brits, Aussies, Euros and north americans and my being pretty much the only black guy in Pattaya and enjoying a little bit of mini celebrity status with the BGs.

Alholk, they are everywhere. Especially south Pattaya but they are enough of them where you see them everywhere. Yeah, not right of me to say it but I miss the old days of almost entirely white Brits, Aussies, Euros and north americans and my being pretty much the only black guy in Pattaya and enjoying a little bit of mini celebrity status with the BGs.

 

I'm not sure what your time reference is when you say the "old days". When I started to go to Pattaya regularly about 20 years ago the Arabs were quite abundant. The almost disappeared after the first Gulf war and in recent years they have started to return.

In the early 90's when the USN ships still were moored in Pattaya bay there were quite a lot of black Americans to be seen there. An American sailor from a carrier once told me that they were allowed to leave the ships in 6 hour shifts and a shift could be as much as 5000 men.

Today the USN mostly stays in Satahip and are not visible in the same way.

I suspect that you came first to Pattaya several years after that.
