rookie
Normally, I don't stay up late, but I decided to see the high point of the Leonid shower, scheduled to be just before 5am Wed. morning. Being somewhat tired from staying up, I hopped on my motorcycle and headed about 30km away from Pattaya. Kinda neat travelling that early; almost no traffic and all drunks have already gotten home from the bars. I parking my bike in a desolate area and I tried to locate the various constellations. Orion was very visible, high in the sky, but most others were obscured by cloud cover as well as the lights from Pattaya...even at 30km away from the city. I couldn't even see the Big Dipper or Mars. I never did see the meteor shower! So, today I'm groggy from a lack of sleep, but resolve to forego driving to see future Leonid events and view them on BBC or maybe YouTube. Bangkoktraveler
In Arizona, this meteor shower can be spectaclar. Next year, there is a day in which 2 different showers happen on the same day.
