gobbledonk Posted February 1, 2010 Author Report Share Posted February 1, 2010 Yep - I took some photos of the very building of which you speak : it was one of the highlights of my trip. The other mansion that absolutely blew me away was the place out on the main road : massive two-storey colonial that the jungle is fast reclaiming. Vines winding their way through it, ala Angkor Wat - there are a couple of abandoned mansions in Georgetown that blow my mind too, but this place is a jaw dropper. I cant imagine what it would cost to restore one of these old girls to their former glory, but its sad to see them left to rot like that. Here in Oz, the National Trust would step in and ensure that something was done, but I dont know how much of that sense of history exists beyond the need to keep Chinese shophouses intact in Georgetown and Melacca. Really want to see more of Malaysia in future - those who fly straight to KL are missing out, IMO. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
