shygye
With the start of the cool season are the beer gardens in operation with cute dek servers? Or is the Thai gov still continuing its assault on tourist attractions.

Gadfly
Yes, there are plenty. There are even two on Thonglor that specialize in Belgian beers (I have only been to one of the two). That said, there is grumbling by the moral Taliban about this violating the Alcoholic Beverages Control Act. The Thai economy has suffered so much this year my guess (or perhaps better described as hope) is that common sense will prevail. On a slightly different subject, about a month ago I attended a seminar given by an Australian professor on Thailand's excise tax. Thailand has one of the least transparent excise tax systems in the world. And talk about complicated. This is why, Free Trade Agreement notwithstanding, Australian wines won't be cheap here soon.
